Frequently Asked Questions
Does it cost anything to be a part of this group?
No, it is completely free to join this group. We ask that you provide supplies for your own child(ren), as needed. We will let you know what you need for each class day.
Do we need to buy the curriculum?
No! I have created a unique Nelipots curriculum that we will use and it is not yet available for the public outside of our class.
What age range does this group cater to?
The curriculum caters to ages 3-5 but we will have activities and sensory play for children 2 and under.
Can siblings come to class?
Absolutely! Younger siblings will have a space next to our tables for their own activities. Older siblings are more than welcome to work on their own school or help their younger siblings as long as they are not distracting them from class.
What supplies will we need?
We will let you know before each class what specific supplies to bring from home. All of our classes use recyclable items, regular home supply items, or items you can locate at the dollar store.
Is there anything we will need for every class?
Yes! You will need to bring a snack for story time, sunblock/bug spray, wipes, and water. I would also recommend bringing coloring supplies, something to sit on if you don't want to sit directly on the ground, and a writing utensil of choice to every class.
Can we come to class whenever we are available?
No, we ask that you commit to 2 out of the 3 days as this is a progressive curriculum. We understand that children get sick and things come up, and that’s okay! Just please communicate that with us and update your RSVP for each class day. Field trips are open to everyone regardless of class attendance, although some space is limited and class attendees will have priority!
Can I help teach, read for story time, or lead a craft?
Absolutely! You can send me a message about what you’re interested in doing and when!
Can I create events and meetups for the group?
Absolutely! I just ask that nothing interferes with class time during the school year.
When does the group meet?
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00am – 11:00am CST, rain or shine, unless the temperature is below 50 degrees!
Where does the group meet?
At the outdoor tables behind the Ecology Center Classrooms at Phil Hardberger Park (8400 Military Hwy)
Can I show up late to class?
Yes! We just ask that you are no more than 15 minutes late unless you let us know ahead of time.
What should my child wear to class?
Wear pajamas, pants, shorts, anything you like! Just be prepared to get dirty and play with nature every day!
Where do I find information about classes?
Each class day will have an event created so we can take attendance. These will be located under the “Events” Tab on the Nelipots Facebook page. Please keep your RSVP updated!
Where do I find information about field trips?
Field trips will mostly be scheduled on one of our class days and will have an event created with more information under in our Monthly Calendar.
Does it cost anything to go on a field trip with the group?
Some field trips may have a small fee and some are free. All that information will be listed for each field trip in our Monthly Calendar.
Can husbands/partners/grandparents come to class or on field trips?
Absolutely! We encourage all partners, grandparents, and other family members to be involved in class if they want! If someone wants to come on a field trip that is NOT part of the group, please make sure there is space as some field trips may have a limited number of spots available.
Can I invite a friend to the class?
Yes and no… this is a progressive curriculum so someone wanting to join in November may be lost. However, we do not discriminate against anyone!
What do we do on the days we don’t have class?
I will have suggestions for Tuesday and Thursday on our Facebook page to keep the curriculum going all week. Please read the suggestions each week as some will be a craft or lesson that we will use or talk about the next day in class! If you do not have a Facebook, I will be sending out emails on Tuesday and Thursday if there is anything you need to do at home for the next class.
My child has allergies, what do I need to do?
Please notify me ASAP of any allergies your child has. This is a very hands-on curriculum and I would hate to create something they cannot touch, smell, or taste.
Can I drop my kid off for class?
No! This is not a drop-off group as we will be outside in nature. At least one adult/guardian is required to stay.
